Palestinian Larpwriter Challenge

We want your games!
We really wish to have more Palestinian written larps and thus we announce:

The Palestinian Larpwriter Challenge

This document is also available for download as a PDF.

What is it?

This is a larpwriting challenge that aims to encourage Palestinian larpwriters or people who are willing to learn larpwriting to start making their own games.

Who can participate?

If you are a Palestinian, and you have an idea about a larp, you are welcome to participate.
You don’t have an idea for a larp? Or you don’t know how to write a larp? That will not be a problem at all; three workshops on how to write and design games for the Palestinian larp writing challenge will be organized.

The workshops Schedule are as following:
  1. On Friday 2. August
  2. On Friday 23. August
  3. On Friday 30. August

What are the Rules?

  • The game must be playable in a seminar room.
  • The recommended number of players of the games should be in the range 5 - 25. The games should be flexible in terms of being playable by a different number of participants.
  • The game should be possible to organize within a small budget.
  • The game should be suitable for first time larpers.
  • We encourage the inclusion of warm-up exercises and debrief methods in the manuscripts.
  • The game should have an expected duration of maximum 4 hours (including participant preparation and debrief).
  • The game must be written in or translated to English.

When is the deadline to apply?

If you are interested in participating in the Palestinian larp writing challenge, you have to send an email to: mohamadrabah@hotmail.com  before the 20. July, 2013.

The deadline to submit your contribution for the Palestinian Larp Writing Challenge is the 10. September 2013.

We will reply with your candidate number, which shall be used in the manuscript when you submit it.
Do not include your name in the manuscript itself, only your candidate number. This will ensure that when the manuscript is forwarded to the jury, they will not be able to tell who has written what manuscript.

Reward for the winner and finalists:

  • Honor and glory, with announcement at the opening ceremony at Beit Byout the Palestinian larp Festival.
  • The final list larps will be run at Beit Byout Palestinian Larp Festival.
  • Participation and travel expenses will be covered for the winner to participate at Grenselandet 2013 (a Norwegian larp convention), with a run of the larp there.
